The Sunshine Blogger Award

Hey All! I’m taking a little detour from finances with today’s post. Why, you ask? Well over the weekend your girl SDot was nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award! Completely unexpected but very humbling. I’ve been blogging for about 4 months now and this is the second time I’ve had a fellow blogger nominate me for a peer-recognition award. I’m ecstatic knowing that people are enjoying my blog’s content.

What is the Sunshine Blogger Award?

The Sunshine Blogger Award is a peer-recognition award given by bloggers to other super creative, talented, ad entertaining bloggers. It’s a great feeling to know that other bloggers are loving your blog content!

  • Nominate another 11 new bloggers and give them 11 questions.
  • Include these rules in your post and use the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post.
Who Nominated Me?

I was nominated by the amazing Rebekah Charles. First, I would like to thank Rebekah for the nomination! I really appreciate it. Rebekah is another new and upcoming blogger, her blog the Wellness Haven is focused on mental health, child/adolescent development, relationships, and lifestyle. Her posts are always full of great advice and tips, so make sure you all show her some love. Give her a follow on Twitter and Instagram, and be sure to check out her blog at rebekahcharles.com.

Here are Rebekah’s Questions for Me:

1. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

I don't have a particular place in mind for this question, but a place with nice weather all year would be ideal.

2. What is one thing you wish you knew as a child about adulthood?

That I would not have it all figured out by adulthood. As a child I thought adults had life all figured out. Wrong! LOL And anybody that tells you that they do is probably lying. Life is too unpredictable and as people we are (or at least should be) constantly learning, growing and changing meaning we’ll never truly have it all figured out.

3. What is your favorite holiday, and why?

Christmas! It’s just something about the atmosphere of the holiday season that puts me in a really good mood. The music, the food, the movies, being around family, and oh yea presents! LOL

4. What is your view on mental health therapy?

It’s definitely needed. Mental health issues affect a lot of people in a lot of different ways and until recently it seemed to be taboo to talk about or seek help for. I’m glad that the issue and practice is becoming more mainstream and people are becoming more aware of and taking care of their mental health through self-care and other therapy methods.

5. What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?

Trust your gut. Another way of saying trust your own instincts. This advice has helped me tremendously when making big decisions in life.

6. What is something that instantly cheers you up/make you feel happy?

Really good chocolate or having a really good laugh.

7. If you had to choose one superpower, what would it be?

Teleportation! I hate commuting. I’d rather just be there. Think of all the time you’d save and how many places you could see if you could just teleport.

8. What is one of your fears?

Public speaking, only at times though. It's very strange but sometimes even the thought of having to speak in front of people gives me massive anxiety and other times I don't think twice about it.

9. What do you enjoy most about blogging?

Feedback from my readers. I started this blog to hopefully help others so whenever someone tells me that my content taught them something or inspired them to take a certain action to better their finances, it really brings me joy!

10.What do you least enjoy about blogging?

That it is sooooo time consuming. Before I started blogging I didn’t realize how much time went into it. From putting the site together, writing posts, and self-promotion, blogging sometimes feels like a second full-time job.

11. What is your favorite food/snack?

Potato chips! I absolutely love chips. I could eat them everyday and probably would, that's why I try my best not to keep them in the house.

  1. Finally able to read this! Congratulations on your award, Sonya! I loooove the Christmas feeling even if spending Christmas gives me anxiety. And as an introvert, I too find it hard to speak in public well. Hahaha Will definitely put this on my award lists so I can get back and make a post about it some time. Again, congratulations! - Elle
